The mint of first Ukrainian coins have started in 1992 on Lugansk Machine-Tool Plant. These coins have been put into regular money circulation only in 1996 at the period of currency reform. For the first time of mint on Lugansk Machine-Tool Plant along with standard coins were minted coins of not standard samples: defected and experimental coins (differed from standard coins by metal, sizes, weight and year of mint) and also patterns - coins minted according official projects but haven't been confirmed later (shahs, 15 kopiyok). Similar not-standard coins have remained in the limited quantities and now are of special interest for numismatists.
