Campaigns of prince Svyatoslav
Prince Svyatoslav (964-972 Ç.Ç.) was Olga's son. From the
childhood he brought up as the soldier.
When prince has grown up his life began to pass in military
campaigns.
Having a strong army Svyatoslav struggled successfully
with enemies.
In 964 he has crushed Khazars and has taken their capital
Itil.
Under authority of Kievan Rus has got ômutarakan Princedom.
In 968 at the request of the Byzantian emperor Svyatoslav
has gone to a campaign against Bulgaria.
Kievan prince has overcome Bulgars and has taken 80 their
cities on Danube. He has located in Pereyaslavets city.
Then he has crushed Pechenegs whom had attacked Kiev.
In 971 Svyatoslav has concluded the peace treaty with Byzantian
Empire.
He has met on Danube with emperor John I Tsimisces.
Greeks have paid to Svyatoslav a tribute but then have
informed Pechenegs that Russian prince comes back home with
a small team and with huge riches.
Pechenegs have attacked Russians at Dnieper's thresholds.
In unequal battle Svyatoslav was killed and the escaped
part of his team has returned to Kiev led by old commander-voevode
Sveneld.
